Haïti Politique : DEHFI estime urgent, nécessaire et incontournable l’engagement d’un dialogue national franc, inclusif et sincère, associant l’ensemble des forces vives de la nation ([Radio Principal FM Haiti] Haiti-Politics: DEHFI considers it urgent, necessary, and essential to engage in a frank, inclusive, and sincere national dialogue, involving all the vital forces of the nation.

The Party of Democrats Committed to a Strong and Inclusive Haiti (DEHFI), in a press release dated Monday, February 9, 2016, acknowledges the end of the mandate of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT) and the decree establishing the exercise of executive power by the Council of Ministers, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Alix Didier FILS-AIMÉ, until the inauguration of the elected President of the Republic, in a national context characterized by profound institutional uncertainties .

DEHFI wishes to reiterate, however, that, in accordance with his rigorous reading of Article 149 of the 1987 Constitution, his position of principle remains the appointment of a provisional President from the Court of Cassation, a constitutional mechanism expressly provided for to ensure the continuity of the State, constitutional legality and the balance of powers in the event of a vacancy in the Presidency.

Given the gravity of the multidimensional crisis facing the country, DEHFI considers it urgent, necessary, and essential to engage in a frank, inclusive, and sincere national dialogue involving all the nation’s vital forces. This dialogue must enable the full restoration of state authority, guarantee the safety of lives and property, restore public trust in institutions, and provide an effective and coordinated response to social and humanitarian emergencies.

In this perspective, the DEHFI political party reaffirms that this new Transition can only succeed if it is structured around three fundamental, complementary and inseparable missions:

The urgent restoration of security and state authority; alleviating the suffering, misery and calamities of the population and organizing credible, inclusive, transparent and democratic elections.
